January is often thought of as a cold unproductive month. We sometimes look at it as a time of "hibernation," but this year, January 2013, could surprise us. We will have only one planet in retrograde, Jupiter, and he will be turning direct. The inner planets, Mercury, Venus, and Mars will be on the opposite side of the Sun, which will make viewing them a bit difficult. But, their aspects and gravitational influence will also be minor. Even the Moons will be pleasant. Mercury will be lining up behind the Sun and the Moon on the Capricorn New Moon, encouraging problem solving and new ideas. The Full Moon will be in fun loving Leo while singing with Jupiter and Uranus. January will be a good month for business and for politics. There is a possibility that our governments and our corporations will come up with new ideas and stronger values.
January will begin with lots of creative energy. We should find that we accomplish much during the first week. There could be some tension in the air late Wednesday and early Thursday, January 2nd and 3rd, but it will be minor. Friday, January 4th, should be an exceptional day for accomplishments and relationships with a Grand Trine (the most positive aspect in astrology) in Air signs between Mars, Jupiter, and the Moon. But, our soaring attitude will probably hit some turbulence on Saturday and Sunday, January 5th and 6th. Saturn will be hitting the brakes, while Mars is stepping on the gas, and Mercury will be trying to tell them what to do. All of those accomplishments may turn into heavy chores. Be sure to set aside some time for rest and relaxation.
Saturn and Mars will keep the "ride" jerky on Monday, January 7th, but the Moon will be void of course, so our emotions will probably level out. Our optimism should return by Tuesday, January 8th, as the Moon enters sparkly Sagittarius, and there is a possibility that wishes could come true over the next couple of days. Our moods may become more serious and our patience could increase on Thursday and Friday, January 10th and 11th, as we approach the Capricorn New Moon (on Friday afternoon). It would be an excellent time to write down goals and even New Year's resolutions. Watch what you eat and how you spend over the weekend of January 11th with Venus conflicting Uranus and Jupiter. There could also be relationship issues. Wait a few days before making any major decisions.
The Moon will enter dreamy Pisces on Monday, January 14th. Intuitions will be sharp for the next couple of days, and our creative energies could emerge. On Wednesday and Thursday, January 16th and 17th, the Moon will move into the "me first" sign, Aries, while Venus crosses Pluto and shakes hands with Saturn. There could be new opportunities, especially in career areas, but there could also be issues with loved ones to deal with. Hang in there, because the holiday weekend of January 18th, could bring new ideas and perspectives as Mercury and the Sun join together to cross into the sign of Aquarius on Saturday, January 19th. Inauguration Day, Sunday, January 20th, should be a slow and steady paced day.
Our ideas may begin to manifest on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Monday, January 21st, and the next few days will be a great time for conversations, games, and rewards at work. The Sun, Uranus, and Jupiter will be encouraging us to put our ideas into motion after the Moon gets established in the cardinal sign of Cancer on Thursday and Friday, January 24th and 25th. There could be financial opportunities, but we will have to practice diplomacy. The Leo Full Moon will be shining down on us on Saturday, January 26th. It will be an excellent weekend to take some time off and have some fun. Leo's love entertainment, so if you can't afford to go out and "kick up your heals," think about renting some movies and maybe even a pizza and some beer.
The Leo Moon will go void of course on Monday, January 28th, so we may not feel like doing much. Work alone, if you can. You will probably find it more productive. The Moon will enter busy Virgo by Monday evening, and we will be ready to roll up our sleeves and get down to the details of any project. The Moon will continue to transit Virgo on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 29th and 30th, but our energy and our luck may drop with the Sun and Saturn fighting and Jupiter turning direct. These two days could be stressful, especially for those with dominate Sagittarius in their charts. Keep expectations to a minimum and postpone what you can until Thursday. The conflicts will be ending, and the Moon will enter balanced Libra on the last day of January, Thursday, January 31st. It will be a great day for staff meetings and even a little redecorating.
We will find ourselves back on the roller coaster in February with many ups and downs, including another Mercury retrograde. But, Valentine's Day could bring steamy passion and a few commitments. Check back next month to find out more.
